Laura Wilson

“The water is my favourite territory, it belongs to everyone and no one”.

Yachting, fishing and cruising in the Bay of Islands and Hauraki Gulf describe Laura’s childhood. She hopped on a 45 foot yacht at 17 and sailed across the Tasman to Australia and up the East coast.  She likewise explored Alaska’s Inside Passage and experienced sea life of unimagined abundance.

Laura has sailed lasers and catamarans competitively and has spent many years coaching young (and not so young) sailors in Northland sailing clubs. She loves running regattas and participating in national events, and has a passion for going fast. Her current addiction is wind foiling, and most windy afternoons she can be found flying about the Bay with her son, who unfortunately is much faster than her.

Being on the water is second nature and Laura loves sharing the freedoms it brings.

Favourite sailing destination – “Alaska’s Inside passage during the Spring Run”.
